A Shakin' Pirate Mermaid

Have you ever tried something completely new only to have it go a bit wrong? That's what happened with this card.
I've been wanting to make a water shaker for a while, so this image being a mermaid seemed like the perfect time to try. I had to snip a bit of foam tape, but unfortunately I snipped the bag too. I covered it with tape and carried on hoping for the best, but it leaked and my paper got rather soggy.
I was determined to salvage my card though, so I ripped off all the soggy bits and turned the top into a regular shaker instead.  I really like the result as Ophelia now has some treasure!

Usually I colour mermaids in bright or pastel colours, but Ophelia is a darker character, so it was really nice to colour her up in really rich, deep tones

The re-done portion of my card. I used gold and silver sequins to represent a pirate's Pieces of Eight and an anchor as every pirate ship has one of those!

The water shaker part.  I was aiming for a 'glitter floating in the water' effect, but I think there is actually too much glitter for this.  I really like it though as the way it's sticking together looks somewhat like a clump of seaweed to me.

I took a little video to show the water better as it's not so easy to photograph
