Today I am showing off an older image, 'Absinthe Faery'. Isn't she fabulous? I really love the dark, mystical look Amanda gave her here:
I usually colour my image before my background, but with this technique it's better to do the background first in case it leaks into the image area.
I started by colouring some stripes in a yellow gradient to cover the whole background area
I then used a cotton bud to drip Surgical Spirit over the yellow. Usually you would use Isopropyl Alcohol for this, but I only have 70% and it doesn't work very well.
I printed the image with pale lines so the bottle wouldn't have a black edge. My favourite colour is purple and I thought it would work really well for the faery.
I did actually re-colour the background and do the surgical spirit again as I didn't like how thin the lines were. I was very careful not to get the liquid near the image!
This flower border die reminded me of creeping vines, so I cut in a very dark green card with a gold glitter pattern on. The die also has separate tiny flowers, so I coloured some purple and used 3D gloss to give them dimension and shine.
For the actual card, I used a large background stamp with gold ink to give some texture.
I couldn't resist making this sentiment. The play on words just popped into my head. I'm sure if you drank enough absinthe you would probably love everyone!
My finishing touch is a few flowers in coordinating colours
I hope you got some inspiration from my work and will join us in the Faery Ink Community on Facebook to share your own creations.
