A Poisonous Gift

Maybe it's my sense of humor, but when I first saw this new image I knew it had to be on a bottle tag! I thought it was a good project for my last August post anyway, as I've been on a gifting theme this month.

I wanted to colour the 'poison' differently to what I would normally do, so a bright pink seemed perfect.  I coloured the bottle green, which also is coloured over the liquid colour.
Backgrounds should generally be coloured before your image just in case you accidentally colour on the image, but I never know what kind of background I want to do until the image is finished!
In this case, I decided on a kind of bubbly, mottled background.  I used the chisel end of my markers to create irregular circles in several layers of pink shades. This is so much easier than trying to create smooth backgrounds.

Of course no fairy would be complete without shimmery wings.

I knew I wanted some kind of sentiment, so thought it would be cool to make it look like there's a tag tied around the poison bottle. I hand wrote the tag, which is something I rarely do.  I can never get my writing looking the way I want it to!

I really wanted some black ribbon with skulls on to finish off, but my local stores didn't have any.  Instead I used some purple ribbon that I was gifted and cut a skull from the patterned paper I had already used, to top the bow.

You can find the cute 'Sweetest Poison Fae' in the Etsy store along with many other images.
