Bendy Fold Card featuring 1940s Tinkerbell

Wasn't that a fantastic Mer-May!? I hope you got a chance to play with some of the fabulous new mermaid images.  Into a new month now and that means even more new images!
I had a lot of fun this week playing with '1940s Tinkerbell'.  I just love Amanda's retro twist on this iconic character, with her Victory Rolls and sassy pose.  You can grab her in the Etsy store right now.

Onto my creation. I knew I had to do something magical with this fabulous fairy, so I decided on a bendy fold card as I've only made one before. These cards look super impressive and complicated but are actually really easy to make.
I kept Tinkerbell in her usual green, but I decided to give her brown hair so it would stand out more against my background.  I went for lots of circles in varying shades of yellow and gold to represent fairy dust.
I coloured the background first through the wings, then used the wing colour over the top to make them look transparent. Because I printed in black ink, I used a Posca paint pen to go over the outline of the wings to further the look of transparency.  I completed the look with some Wink of Stella, because fairy wings have to be shimmery!
For my bends, I added lots of layers of die-cut grass in different shades of green.  Adorning this are some too-cute fireflies as these are the perfect companions for a fairy.
For the rest of the blank area, I used some bright paper flowers
For the most magical part - I made the back bend big enough to fit a tealight and the firefly trails have glow-in-the-dark embossing powder!! It's not easy to get a good photograph in the dark, but you get the effect.  It looks amazing with the flickering light.
