Use your wand tool to select inside your dress. ( In Photoshop you can check off USE ALL LAYERS and make this much easier, I believe you can check off SAMPLE MERGED in PSP and get similar results ) Now we can begin shading the dress. Here is the palette I used again in case you've lost it ;)

As always, add a new layer... Use color # 3 to draw in some light shadows. Keep in mind that her leg is pushed outward, so would be pulling the fabric of her skirt to the left...

Use the next color of the palette ( on a new layer ) fill in the light areas of the dress like above. Leave some of the fill color close to the shadows you just laid in to keep depth...

I felt like the shadows i laid in were a little too dark just yet, so I lowered the opacity of that layer to around 76
Now use the next color of the palette to lay some very thin darker shadows over those shadows we just made lighter by lowering the opacity of. REMEMBER, every single itty bitty detail from each color of the shading to lighting, to sparkles, should have its own layer. This way you can go back and fiddle with the layer properties and blending without messing everything up.

Now that is looking really good!

Now use the next color in the palette ( the yellow color ) to add some thin highlights like above... Then fiddle with the opacity till you get something you like, like below...

This multi color shading gives the dress alot more vibrancy and life, don't you think? So lets try some orange shadows..
The orange shadows should be very broad, like above and cover only the darkest areas..
Adjust your blend options ( layer properties in PSP ) to something similar to this :

Now that is some rich coloring, yes?
Now select your wrap. Here is that palette again : ![]()
Draw in some thing creases and add some shading around below your flowers. I forgot to add it where the wrap overlaps itself so you may want to add that too :p I am using color 3 of the palette above.

Use color 4 to add some light to the wrap in broad areas..

Now use the yellow in the palette to add some highlights to the top of the folds and ruffles...

Lower the opacity of the lights layer until you find something subtle that you like. You don't want the wrap to be too colorful since the gown itself is already so vibrant.

Use your wand to select inside your staff. Here is the palette again : ![]()

Draw in some lines where the lines are indented and wrapping around the top of your staff.. color #3 :)

Use the rest of the colors in the palette to add more curves to the staff like above.
Now we want the staff to go behind the dress, so merge all of your staff layers and then drag the staff layer below the outline and fill of your gown.
Now we can color the main jewel.. Here is that palette again : ![]()
Remember to select the gem with your wand tool first.

Adding shadng and lights here, similar to below.

I missed the preview for the major highlight with the lightest color of the palette. It is just a 5 pixel cross. You can zoom in on the original doll to see for yourself.

Now we are shading the leaves, again now palette, this is pretty simple and I offer tons of them already.

And we are shading the flowers... ![]()
dark orange closest to the center, medium orange next and then the lightest yellow around the edges of the petals.. I just used a bright orange to highlight the edges of the dark flower.

Use your wand tool to select her hair.. As you can see I felt like the hair was too dark for this doll so I am giving her a strawberry blonde instead. I have hair palettes in the palettes section, just choose your favorite of those and we can go from there :) Here is one of those just so i can show you which color to use where..
Outline should be the first color, fill should be the third.

Use the second color to draw in some seperation within the hair.

Use the fourth color to draw in some lights in the center of the sections we just made.

Use the lightest color to add some lights near the face and along the outside of the waves like below.

On a new layer, of course, use the second color to draw broad areas of shadow like below. You should be adding the color at the part in her hair, around her face and where the waves concave inward..

You can either smudge this or blur it, I usually smudge it but I decided to blur today. I'm pretty tired ;)

Now set it your blends, or layer properties to below. Adjust the opacity until it looks right to you...

Now I was bickering with my husband as I tried to finish this lol... so you will want to go in on your base layer, add a new layer and add some shadow on the face under her hair. I also mistakenly made the flower shadowing invisible and lost it in the save lol.. So yours probably looks better than mine at this point ha ha.. I added some blush and changed her eye color and voila..

Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back if you made it through this whole thing ^_^
